BOOK IT! is a non-profit subsidiary operating within Pizza Hut. BOOK IT's goal is to motivate children K-6 to read more through fun activities, recognition, and of course pizza.
Their program has been operating successfully for more than 30 years. Throughout those years, however, they haven't updated their practices from shipping large amounts of paper packets to participating schools. In recent years, BOOK IT! has realized the need to become digital to make the program more accessible, affordable, and scalable.
This project required our team at Hathway to look not only at the design of their new digital platform, but how their program will need to adapt from an operations perspective to accommodate for the change from paper to digital.
In summary, our goal was to design and develop the means for BOOK IT! to digitalize their program for the future, while making sure that we maintain the existing program for users. In the end, we delivered designs and launch plans for a modernized enrollment for teachers and schools, a web application for teachers to use in their classroom in place of the traditional paper materials, immersive activities for the children to participate in the program, an internal tool for the BOOK IT! team to manage the program, and redesigned marketing site.
